Bio - Rabbi Shlomo Levy
The following is a short biography of Rabbi Shlomo Levy. There are many stories that can be written, however this short version's agenda is to portray the general background of the Levy family tree.
During the Spanish Inquisition the Jewish People suffered unjustified hatred acts. They were forced to abandon God's Torah and Commandments that had been taught to them by Moses and passed down from generation to generation. Whom ever refused to do so, was executed, brutally murdered. Rabbi Shlomo's ancestors who have lived in Spain for a long period of time, chose not to give up their loyalty to God. Despite of all the difficulties involved, they fled to Egypt. The Levyim were always loyal to God. In Mt. Sinai, as the rest of Bnei Yisrael sinned as they made the golden calf, the Levyim stood strong and refused any notion of sinning. Just like they chose God over idol worship and peer pressure, God also chose the Levyim and blessed them that they should be God's chosen ones forever. Rabbi Shlomo's ancestors, who are known Levyim, had arisen above the extreme pressures in order to keep the solid relationship between God and them, as did their fathers before them.
Understanding the tragedies of exile, they took upon themselves to write a family tree, that no matter what will happen in the future, their descendants should remain solid in the paths of their forefathers, being loyal to God. From then till now the family tree continues, marking the dates for more than 600 years ago. A claim that they are true descendants of Moses, had also been passed down from generation to generation by some family members, said Shalom (Zatza"l) to his son Shlomo.
Rabbi Joseph Levy (Shlomo's Grandfather) was born in Egypt. Rabbi Shalom (Zatza"l) was born on the fifth day of Adar Beit in Jerusalem, he was also born circumcised. His first born (bechor) was born in Haifa, and named him Joseph after his father. After moving to the United States, Rabbi Shlomo was born in Brooklyn New York.
Rabbi Shlomo continues the ways of his fathers and remains stead-fast in keeping the Torah and Mitzvot just as God commanded Moses. Rabbi Shlomo is also a Certified Sofer STaM (Torah Scrolls Tefillin and Mezuzot).
