Jerusalem is the holiest place on Earth. Before the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash (the holy Temple), Jerusalem was the most beautiful city, consisting of gorgeous mansions, breathe taking parks and recreational centers. All of the world Leaders had paid a fortune for the recognition of having an estate in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem or Yerushalayim in Hebrew inherited its name from the peace God made between Abraham and Malki Tzedek. As quoted in the Torah, Abraham called Jerusalem Yireh. Malki Tzedek called it Shalem. HASHEM combined those two names together Yireh and Shalem, which formed to be Yerushalem. If you look in the whole Tanach (Torah - Bible, Neviim - Prophets, Ketuvim - Scrolls) you will see Yerushalim spelled Yerushalem even though it's read Yerushalaim. Our prayers to HASHEM, that Yerushalayim should be rebuilt quickly along with the Beit Hamikdash.
